Gina Czarnecki

I Too is a video installation derived from footage gathered from imaging and visualisation technologies, and the audience’s iris scans created for and by Gina Czarnecki’s 2013 work, I.

I Too looks at the relationship (and assumed equation) between seeing and knowing, between data and knowledge. Woven into its tapestry of scientific images are iris scans, portraits of the artist’s mother ‘slipping away’ with Alzheimer’s disease, and photos of her daughters’ selfies from Snapchats – with the image as the dominant and necessary part of communication making up for that which cant be expressed in words. I Too is fundamentally about the spaces between that which can be currently measured.
