Abdul Hamid Mandgar, a young Afghan filmmaker, won the Best Director award at the Herat International Women's Film Festival and won 18 other awards. Hamid has made 8 short films, all about women, children and war in Afghanistan. After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, Abdul Hamid lived in French.
