A Video Essay by Joseph Cutts

Video Essay....on a series of recent studies & accounts into the cycle & formation of electronic waste (2024)

Coinciding with Joseph Cutts’ curated in-house reading material at Presse Books, here he provides an insight into his work and ongoing research into the cycle & formation of electronic waste, via this short essay documenting various accounts of ecological, economical and social concerns.

Outlined through a series of personal and professional experiences, Cutts’ shares notes on the implications of importing and exporting overseas, the mass producing of elite goods, and the need for a stronger e-waste management programme, alongside recent artistic and curatorial depictions of metal forming processes, the measuring of the impact of your carbon footprint and the potential of hyperaccumulators.

The essay is made up of documents, tickets, photographs and artwork excerpts from my various folders and archives since 2017, alongside a very small selection of found material.

The video essay will be screened on loop at FormaHQ within Presse Books throughout spring.
