Making Space: A Collective Enquiry on Comfort
Publication Launch and Exhibition, BA Design for Art Direction, London College of Communications, University of the Arts London (UAL)
Thursday 29 May 2025
Making Space is a one-day publication launch and installation presented by Second-year Art Direction students from London College of Communication, University of the Arts London at FormaHQ, London.
Featuring digital and analogue installations, Making Space presents a collaborative exploration into interpretations of comfort, responding to six texts:
Making Trouble by Otto von Busch; Are We Human? by Beatrice Colomina & Mark Wigley; Imperfect Solidarities by Aruna D’Souza; An Apartment on Uranus by Paul B. Preciado; The Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction by Ursula K. Le Guin; and Queer Phenomenology by Sara Ahmed.
Working collaboratively, the students have explored reimagining the boundaries of comfort through various media, working through bodily, spatial, emotional, social, sensorial, and conceptual considerations, and present them in a full take-over of FormaHQ's events space and book shop.
A printed edition of Making Space, featuring student responses to the mentioned texts will be available at the exhibition.
