The People’s Cinema and Theatre Club presents: Only The Worst Of People Remain As Witnesses 11 June 2026 7.00-9.00pm, doors 6.30pm FormaHQ, 140 Great Dover Street, London, SE1 4GW

This event, broadcast live on Montez Press Radio, centres the Peasants’ Revolt, an English uprising that took place in 1381, when ordinary people rose up against taxation, labour exploitation and the power of the ruling class. Drawing from key moments in the revolt, the performance brings these events to life through a short staged work that focuses on the voices, tensions and demands that shaped the uprising.

The evening will begin with a short introduction, followed by the live performance, and will close with a panel discussion. The aim of the event is to make this history accessible to a wider audience, while also drawing a clear line between the 14th century and the present day. By placing past and present alongside one another, the event asks audiences to reflect on how power structures continue to shape everyday life, and how many of the struggles faced by ordinary people have remained much the same over time.

The People’s Cinema and Theatre Club explores political ideas through film and theatre. We aim to educate and encourage critical thought through visual media.
