Montez Press Residency

Montez Press will be in residency at FormaHQ from April-July 2026, using the period to explore and share its approach to expanded publishing.

Over the past decade, Montez Press has positioned itself at the forefront of artist-led publishing, queering the canon and championing experimental, speculative and autofictional writing. Working across novels, periodicals, monographs and digital projects, the press also supports artists through development grants, residencies and long-term collaboration.

The residency extends Montez Press’s commitment to publishing as a process rather than a single output. Through expanded publishing, the organisation treats publishing as a cross-disciplinary practice that can include live performance, broadcasting and collective research alongside print. This approach reflects the press’s origins as a DIY project founded by Goldsmiths students during an exchange at HFBK Hamburg, which has since evolved into a transnational platform spanning the UK, Germany and the US.

Today, Montez Press continues to support experimental and underrepresented voices while expanding what contemporary publishing can be.
