Montez Press Radio invites you to be a part of the live audience for our upcoming broadcast The Walk live from FormaHQ. The Walk is a radio series across our broadcast locations New York, London and Mexico City, exploring what it means to move through space attentively. Through conversations, readings, walking tours, and sound, we’re exploring the psychological and political dimensions of walking through the world.
Doors will be open from 12pm - 6pm. Drop in and out as you please or tune in live via https://radio.montezpress.com/#/.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
12pm - Manda Shutler: Themes for Cities Outskirts
A live sound collage of music reflective of wandering forgotten and rejected urban spaces and field recordings from in and around London City, interspersed with words and reflections.
1pm - Black History Walks Archive Show
This audio collage is an archival collection from and about Black History Walks.
2pm - Ethan Cohen: Equivocating Ground
A collage of Ethan Cohen’s footsteps around London.
3pm - Nina Manandhar and Zakia Sewell in conversation (Pre Recorded)
Nina Manandhar sits down with Zakia Sewell to discuss her latest book, Finding Albion. Together, they explore our motivations behind walking both alone and collectively, and how these practices intersect with the negotiation of cultural identity and place.
4pm -Forma Presents: James Jordan Johnson
5pm - Laura Grace Ford and Stewart Home in conversation, moderated by Manda Shutler
A live conversation between Stewart Home and Laura Grace Ford, moderated by MPR's Manda Shutler. The conversation will explore their respective works within psychogeography and its evolving relevance today. Reflecting on how relationships to the city have shifted over the recent decades, they examine walking as both a creative method and a political act within their practices, tracing how movement through urban space shapes perception, memory, and resistance.
You can view the rest of the programming for The Walk on MPR's website.
Montez Press Radio is an experimental broadcasting and performance platform founded in 2018 with the goal of fostering greater experimentation and conversation between artists, writers, and thinkers through the medium of radio. This platform invites different corners of the art world to interact with each other in person and on air—a place where media finally meets flesh. We’re drawn to art that exists in the unexpected, the authenticity of sharing without a script, the sounds of ideas in the making, conversation that forgets there’s an audience.
